Get some exercise and learn about financial responsibility all in one day
The Gateway to Health and Wealth Trail run/walk will take place on Saturday, August 29.
This event is organized by The Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health and Brian Hilt of Edward Jones.
Julia Huber, a research summer assistant at Gateway said the event would tackle two increasing problems in Huron County.
While on the surface, the connection between a healthy lifestyle and financial literacy may not be overwhelmingly apparent, Huber said evidence shows that in most cases people of higher socio-economic status are usually of higher health.
The event will feature a kiddie trot and two km, five km and 10 walks/runs.
Things kick off at 8:50 a.m. at pavilion #2 at St. Christopher’s Beach in Goderich.
Mail registrations will only be accepted until Saturday, August 22 while online registrations can be until 11:59 a.m. on Friday, August 28.
Registration through mail can be sent to:
Gateway Centre for Excellence
151 Main St. S.
P.O. Box 1181
In-person registration on race day can be done between 7 and 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event.
Also involved will be information sessions provided by the Rural Response for Healthy Children’s Budget Buddies program, which educates individuals and other financial principles.
There will be booths set up at the race site with information on health and finances.
